Electronic Commerce which in short is referred to as eCommerce has been growing steadily, since its cradle back in the 1970’s. It has made some major improvements that are so significant to business transactions worldwide. In the days that passed the mention of e-commerce brought into mind mostly direct deposit and electronic banking. However with time e-commerce grew to the point of sending invoices and purchase orders over a wireless network that is availed by the internet, this was a boost o the business world has it was a fast and reliable. More was in store as a decade later e-commerce strategy so the introduction of the so referred ATM cards (Automated Teller Machine), also it allowed for credit cards to be sent via the internet as well. Let’s just say all these were some great advancement in business.

In the 1990s, saw the first e-commerce purchase which was cars take place online. At some point e-commerce was adopting the name of online trading; something that has not changed so much today. At around this time the internet was not everyone’s cup of tea as it was just referred to as another development in technology that people were oblivious about. They only took it seriously at around 1994. Having in mind some had already started purchasing cars online long before that, such people were referred to as technologically savvy.

One major reason for the lag in years that it took for the internet to take off globally may be that the government prohibited commercial enterprise via the Internet. It wasn’t until late 1994 and early 1995 that the security protocols were such that credit card usage over the internet was considered relatively safe. Not to mention we didn’t have the option of continuous streaming through DSL until that time which, made it nearly impossible to browse, add to shopping carts, and purchase items via the Internet.

The growth spurt was after this period where efforts saw the possibility of having to order pizza online was made real, together with the introduction of Mozilla. Amazon and eBay also made an entry into the internet market at around this time.

E- Commerce has become fully evolved as now-a-days it recognized by even average persons. Most business transactions are currently being done via the internet. E-taliers are what people are talking about instead of retailers. Receipts indicating proof of purchase and orders were now being freely exchanged over a wireless network instead of the real paper itself.

More recently, due to the government’s involvement, consumers have begun to feel much more comfortable sharing their private information, financial, personal, and banking information over the internet. And today, many businesses are completely online businesses with no actual ‘brick-and-mortar’ stores. E-commerce strategy has become so fully evolved that it is now possible to open your own online business and not accrue any overhead such as rent or leasing a studio, fax machines and printers, post-it notes and staplers and with good e-Commerce strategy, you can successfully run your own business online.
